In te reo Māori, the word hīnātore represents a glimmering light, or the phosphorescence of the moon. It is also a word associated with sage wisdom or understanding. The phrase “kua hīnātore” expresses the feeling of being enlightened or coming into new knowledge. Night time has always been a popular time for the seeking and gathering of knowledge in te ao Māori.
The name Hīnātore Creative speaks to my love for the gathering of knowledge, and the collaborative journey towards understanding. It speaks to a gentle brightness, one that is reflective and intuitive, that has the power to move worlds.
